Hi Hugh, great website for expatriots who get homesick every now and
then, The coronation picture was taken in Dykes Place and my mother was
the one who sewed the banner. The women were out early in the day
sweeping the street while the men hung the banner and set up the tables.
The Armstrongs at # 8 had a tv set and let us all in for 10 minutes at a
time to watch the coronation. All the school children received a brand
new shilling and a mug with E 11 R on it which made the grownups mad as
she was only the first Elizabeth for Scotland. Lea Simmonds (Birnie now
)

Hugh A wee message to Jim McCann's latest please. Aye Jim, it seems
everybody is related to me as I've been found by another distant
relative (Margaret Lyons; please see above) via this site. Lord, it's
great to be popular but what else when you are from Saltcoats, eh Jim.
Any resident/former resident from the towns is welcome to communicate
with me & I can also be found on ICQ. As promised Hugh, I continue
to drop in and check up on the latest. Great work. Best wishes to all.
Jim McCreadie, Perth, WA.

Descendent of James and Lillias (Stewart) Galbraith (Kilwinning) "
of John and Christina (Green) Hailstones (Dalry) Apparently they left
Ayrshire for N.A. circa 1869, settling in Pennsylvania. I visited Dalry
and Kilwinning in August of '99 - it's great to see the photos on this
site! Would love to find a familial connection - anybody out there?
